This is a 20 kg / 44 lb box of Harvia rounded olivine diabase, 10–15 cm. We stock the official Harvia R-995 box — not a heater package, not a pallet, not a decorative gnome. Rounded rocks let water run down into the pile, so the steam comes up a little softer than a full split-face load.
What size and where it goes
Rounded, 10–15 cm (4–6 in), one box 20 kg / 44 lb. Use 10–15 cm on wood stoves and large floor electrics that call for the bigger rock. Harvia’s own page says rounded stones work as a top layer on any heater; they also say put angular stones underneath if the cage is small, so air still moves. Do not force 10–15 cm into a tight wall box that asks for 5–10 cm.
Before you pile
Rinse the rocks in a tub or with a hose before they go in the heater. Factory dust will smell on the first heat if you skip it. Pile loose so air can move — a jammed cage cooks elements and kills löyly. Cover the elements on an electric; do not rest a boulder on a bend in the coil.

Which size for my heater?
5–10 cm for most electric wall heaters. 10–15 cm for wood stoves and large floor electrics. HUUM CLIFF/STEEL want 3–5 cm; DROP/HIVE/CORE and HUUM wood want 5–10 cm. If the manual disagrees with a rule of thumb, the manual wins.
